Qingming festival which is known as Tomb-Sweeping Day is traditionally one of the grandest festival for ancestor worship in China. The festival always appears in the beginning of spring when the year assumes its colorful attire. Moreover Chinese have a three-day vacation during the festival. Both make the Qingming Festival not only a time for commemorating the dead, it is also a period for people to go out and enjoy nature after the cold winter.
When it comes to travel, it will be inevitable to have vehicles checked over. Engine, Braking system, Tiers and Three filters are all inspected. While it seems something is missing! Is the braking liquid which directly affects the braking result replaced regularly? Some vehicle owners would say we have run more than 5 years over 100,000 kilometers in the original braking liquid without any problem. Here Remsa would like to remind all vehicle owners nothing happened doesn't mean no problem exists.
First specified in vehicles manuals, second reminded by workshops afterwards, braking fluid replacement normally happens every 2 years. Is this a trap again set by manufactures or workshops?
Is it necessary or not to replace the
braking fluid regularly for your vehicles?
Here we can confirm affirmatively.
It is quite necessary.
We can attribute the reason from a real story.
The most talk-about topic from a friend of a workshop is how horrible to come across a customer not fully understand the maintenance issue. He ever served a customer of this kind before. The customer would require mechanics to do the maintenance on his own will each time, and he decided the components replacement by himself instead of following the suggestion of mechanics as he had a strong belief that he well understood the maintenance.
A mechanic ever suggested him to replace the contaminated braking fluid when learning it hadn't been replaced for almost seven years. While the suggestion was refused as he thought it was not necessary to replace the braking fluid at all. It's quite soon afterwards he drew a lesson from his insistence at the expense of an accident. He experienced a frequent press on braking pedal when passing by a straight downhill area. Suddenly the braking became too soft to have brake force when turning a corner. It ended up with a roadside colliding fortunately without serious injury.
Why the braking fluid will easily lead to braking failure if it is not replaced for long?
Due to the high hydrophilicity, the brake fluid will contain some water after serving for a period. Water content will lower the performance and boiling point of the braking fluid. When we brake frequently for a long period, the temperature of the braking system will rise sharply, and then the lower boiling point makes the braking fluid boil to produce vapors leading to braking decline or even worse braking failure. That should be what happened to the customer above.
How often should the braking fluid be replaced?
The suggested replacement every two years in manufacture's manual is only adaptable for vehicles in normal situation with ordinary driving habits. It will be various in different situations for different drivers.
When you feel brake soft or the brake distance is extended, if that is nothing to do with brake pads or tiers problems, it should be the time to replace the braking fluid.
We can also have a brake fluid performance testing in workshops. The brake fluid water content and boiling point can be examined by the professional equipment.
Last but not least, protect your vehicles from poor braking fluid which not only fail to meet the performance specifications to endanger your driving, but also is liable to wear and corrod the braking components. Never risk your vehicles for choosing poor but cheap braking fluid, the loss would be ireparable.
Attention! Here below we have the
summary underline for our readers.
√
As a driving safety related product, braking fluid is not maintenance-free which need to be replaced periodically.
√
Check the braking fluid status regularly, and replace it in time once degrading appears.
√
It's quite essential to choose the braking fluid produced by established manufactures with good fame.
Remsa provides DOT4, DOT5 and DOT5.1 braking fluid imported from Britain, with good performance in high and low temperature resistance and superb rubber and metal adaptability, which can meet the requirement of all kinds of vehicles, including vehicles equipped with disc brakes, drum brakes, and ABS systems.
